Tokyo faces significant urban challenges, including its location in an active tectonic zone prone to earthquakes, tsunamis, and typhoons, alongside issues like hyperdensity, loss of public spaces, and the erosion of traditional neighborhoods due to globalization. This project, set in Kyojima, a traditional neighborhood in Northeast Tokyo, focuses on enhancing urban resilience by transforming underused spaces into evacuation routes and green public areas while preserving the existing urban fabric. Collaborating with the local planning community, machizukuri, the proposal includes a multifunctional building for meetings, workshops, and neighborhood activities, improving conditions for residents and fostering community engagement.
